Pure Hands restores durable water and sanitation systems to protect the health and dignity of communities in Yemen.
Prolonged conflict, economic decline, and climate-related shocks have severely weakened Yemen’s water and sanitation systems.
Aging and damaged water supply systems, limited operation and maintenance capacity, groundwater depletion, and increasing climate variability—including prolonged droughts, extreme heat, and flooding—have significantly reduced system functionality and reliability.
Affected communities face recurring service disruptions, increased public health risks, and growing dependence on costly emergency water provision.
Without sustained investment in system rehabilitation, operation, maintenance, and climate-resilient solutions, vulnerabilities will persist, undermining recovery efforts and community resilience, particularly in rural, conflict-affected, and climate-exposed areas.
To support vulnerable and crisis-affected communities in Yemen to sustainably access safe water and sanitation services by restoring, maintaining, and strengthening WASH systems.
To restore and sustain functional, climate-resilient, and community-managed water and sanitation systems that reduce public health risks, strengthen local resilience, and decrease reliance on emergency WASH assistance.
Ensure durable provision, rehabilitation, and maintenance of water supply systems through system strengthening and introduction of sustainable and alternative water sources.
Restore and maintain safe, functional, and context-appropriate sanitation systems for affected communities.
Strengthen local capacities, governance mechanisms, and climate-resilient practices for sustainable management of water and sanitation services.
